St. Mary's is a small church school in the town of St. Neots, Cambridgeshire. Currently, the school is one form entry from nursery to year 2, and there are 3 mixed age KS2 classes. The school became an academy in the autumn term of 2015 and was graded good in all areas at it's first inspection in the summer of 2018. The school currently has a very strong and committed teaching staff and they are well supported by a team of support staff in the classrooms and in the office.
Our inclusion and family worker is full time and non-classed based to support children and their families outside of the classroom. There has been a significantly positive impact through her work and teachers and TAs appreciate being able to focus solely on learning in their classrooms and the reason they came in to education!
Because St. Mary's takes well-being very seriously, teachers enjoy having dedicated leadership time in addition to PPA time so they can fulfil their roles as leaders. Staff also enjoy being able to take a well-being day at their leisure once a term. Career development is important to us at St. Mary's and the school has a proven record of supporting staff to be their best.
Rooted in Christian values and teachings, children, parents and staff are valued for the contribution they make to the school community and the life of the school. Children are respectful and supportive of each other and enjoy strong relationships with the adults they work with. The curriculum at St. Mary's is planned very well and is structured to give teachers strong foundations on which to build upon. Our curriculum design is bespoke to the children in our community and there remains a high emphasis on the importance of music, arts and sport in addition to a rich English and maths provision.
