Early Years Practitioner – Foundation

Reports to the Head of Early Years.

Whitehall School and Nursery are looking to appoint an Early Years practitioner Level 3 to assist and lead in the Foundation stage and support other areas of the setting.

~ To lead and plan effective and thorough lessons for the preschool children.

~ To work within our Early Years Team, supporting the planning and implementation of activities with individual or groups of children; promoting effective teaching and learning.

~ To be part of our Early Years Team that provides a purposeful, stimulating environment rich in learning opportunities, both indoors and outdoors.

~ To promote the inclusion of all children.

~ To use professional knowledge of the individual and diverse ways that children learn and develop, to meet their differing needs.

~ To be responsible for organising the environment inside and outside to ensure that resources and equipment are available and appropriate to meet the needs of the individual children in the group. ~ To meet the physical needs of children, encouraging good standards of personal hygiene, whilst promoting independence.

~ To encourage children to interact and work co-operatively with others.

~ To support the school’s commitment on safeguarding children and fully understand that you have a responsibility to safeguard children using the settings child protection and whistle blowing procedures.

~ To be responsible for the planning, development and delivery of the Early Years Foundation Stage in order to meet all learning interests and needs of children, extending them where necessary. To contribute to the review and further development of the Early Years Foundation Stage in the nursery.  

~ To support the team to monitor and evaluate children's learning through a range of assessment and monitoring strategies, including individual room action plans and the self-evaluation tool.

~ To provide objective and accurate feedback and reports for parents and other professionals on children’s achievements, progress and related matters.

~ To develop positive and sensitive relationships with parents and carers to support their role in children's learning. To provide constructive feedback on children’s progress/achievement, on a day-to-day basis or through parent meetings.

~ To be proactive in the continuation of your own learning to improve the outcomes for children and their families.

~ To have a clear knowledge of and adhere to all Health and Safety Regulations.

~ To comply and assist with the development of policies and procedures.

~ To attend meetings as required and participate in training opportunities and performance development.

~ To be accountable for the delivery of the above responsibilities and tasks.

~ To undertake any duties set to you by the Management Team that will assist in the day-to-day running of the Early years.

~ To inform the nursery manager of any absence from work by 6:00am.

~ to ensure you are reliably on time for each and every day, duty and meeting.

~ To hold a Level 3 or above qualification in Childcare

We are an 'Outstanding' Children's Day Care Nursery in the Fen Edge village of Burwell, 10 miles north of Cambridge, 4 miles from Newmarket and 8 miles from Ely.

We are a 58 place private day nursery in the lovely village of Burwell, Cambs. We wish to recruit a well-presented, articulate, enthusiastic and caring individual to join our friendly and professional nursery team. Applicants should be a qualified Level 2/3 practitioner and have previous setting experience.

They must be a good team player, have excellent communication skills, both written and oral. A understanding of the EYFS and be able to use own initiative is essential. We work a 4 day week 0800-1800hrs. The applicant will be responsible for extending children's learning and coming up with interesting, varied and fun activities to achieve this. Carrying out written observations and assessments of the children is also a requirement. We offer a very competitive salary which will depend on experience. In line with the Local Safeguarding Children’s Board Guidelines, the successful applicant will be subject to an Enhanced DBS check.
