Nursery Nurse (Part-Time, Maternity Cover)

Starting salary is £12,910 per annum to £14,754 per annum (FTE £18,623 - £21,283)

We are seeking a Nursery Nurse to join our OFSTED-outstanding rated Nursery to cover a period of Maternity leave for up to one year in the first instance. The successful candidate will play a key role in observing and planning for the children’s individual interests, developmental needs and next steps according to the Early Years Foundation Stage Statutory Framework.

 

This post will primarily work in our Caterpillars room with children aged 12-24 months, although candidates must be willing to work with all ages within each of the base rooms at the nursery.

 

We are seeking an individual who:

-          Has experience of working in a similar role within an early years setting, ideally with children under the age of 24 months;

-          Is preferably Level 3 qualified, although Level 2 qualified candidates will also be considered for this role;

-          Has a good understanding of the EYFS and has a positive and proactive attitude towards developing children;

-          Has excellent interpersonal and communication skills and can work effectively as part of a team.

 

The hours of this post are Monday to Thursday 12.00pm to 5.45pm and Friday 12.00pm to 5.15pm, totalling 28.25 hours per week.

About the Nursery

 

The Babraham Nursery is part of the Babraham Institute, a charity which is world renowned for its research in life sciences to enhance lives and improve wellbeing.   The Nursery was opened in September 1990 and operates from a large house situated in a quiet corner of a residential area in the grounds of the Institute. It has a large enclosed

garden with climbing frame, pathways and grassed areas. It accommodates up to a total of ninety children on the Early Years register aged from 6 weeks to 5 years throughout the year and operates a separate after school club during term time and holiday club for school aged children during the holidays at the local school.   There is a large team of Nursery Nurses and Nursery Assistants who care for the children as well as staff who provide the meals and administrative support.  A Senior Nursery Nurse leads each of the five base rooms supported by the Nursery Deputy, Nursery Deputy & Fun Pack Manager and the Head of Nursery and Fun Pack.

 

The Nursery is open all year round except for Bank Holidays and a one-week closure during the Christmas period.

Introduction:

We are seeking to appoint a part time Administrator to undertake clerical duties in liaison with the Head of Nursery and Company Secretary.

The position reports to the Head of Nursery but has functional responsibility to the Company Secretary.

The person appointed will work 3 days per week on a Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. The hours of work will be 8-4pm with one hour for lunch. This role is available with immediate effect for the successful candidate.
