Milton Road Primary School

Milton Road is a popular, over-subscribed school within walking distance of the historic and cultural centre of Cambridge.  We are a 2 form entry primary school with nearly 420 children on roll.

In June 2006, the school moved into a brand new building which provides high quality indoor and outdoor spaces.  Amongst other things, the children benefit from a large library, a large school hall and separate dining room/community room, as well as well-appointed classrooms with adjoining spaces for group work.  At the centre of the school is a large, sunny courtyard, which is the focus for many activities throughout the school day, all year round.

There is plenty of outdoor space for the children, including a large outdoor classroom complete with a pond, seating for a whole class, and even bug hotels.

Our aim, as a school, is for all our children to:

  • Experience a broad and balanced curriculum.
  • Develop lively and enquiring minds and a love of learning
  • Have high self esteem
  • Work with independence
  • Value and care for others
  • Care for their environment
  • Be self-disciplined and courteous
  • Become good citizens.

The children at Milton Road are keen to learn and Ofsted (May ’19) stated that ‘pupils have excellent attitudes towards their learning’ and that ‘pupils are proud to be part of the school’. Attainment at the school is regularly very high, both at Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2. In turn, progress scores are above national figures.

Community involvement plays an important role in contributing to the success of the school.  Parents are very actively involved in the life of the school, regularly contributing their skills and expertise to provide exciting learning opportunities for the children.  We benefit from a highly successful and motivated PTA, who not only raise money to support school projects, but who organise a number of exciting community events throughout the year.

As a school, we are excited by the many opportunities that we already offer the children and look forward to expanding on these, further.
