The Developing Effective Teaching (DET) programme is a four day course written by teachers for teachers and is targeted at reflective practitioners who are aiming to achieve consistently good lessons. The programme has a practical focus, with participants required to reflect on key aspects of teaching and learning such as:

  • Engagement
  • Talk for learning
  • Assessment for learning
  • Inclusion

Participants will explore how these elements can inform their own teaching.

The programme encourages delegates to consider the impact of a range of teaching strategies on pupil progress and each session will provide an opportunity to observe lessons and reflect on good practice. Participants are asked to complete a preparatory activity prior to each session in order to consolidate learning. The sessions are delivered by experienced colleagues from within the Cambridge Teaching Schools Network.
