Nursery Assistant – Full Time (Maternity Cover)

Starting salary is £17,459 per annum

The Babraham Institute is a charity, which is world renowned for its research in life sciences to enhance lives and improve wellbeing.

Babraham Nursery was opened in September 1990 and operates from a large house situated in a quiet corner of a residential area in the grounds of the Institute. It has a large enclosed garden with climbing frame, pathways and grassed areas. It accommodates up to a total of ninety children on the Early Years register aged from 6 weeks to 5 years throughout the year and operates a separate holiday club for school aged children during the holidays at the local school.

There is a large team of Nursery Nurses and Nursery Assistants who care for the children, as well as staff, who provide the meals and administrative support. A Senior Nursery Nurse leads each of the five base rooms supported by the Deputy Managers and Head of Nursery. We also have two cleaners who carry out regular daily cleaning. The Nursery is open all year round except for Bank Holidays and a one-week closure during the Christmas period.

A temporary, full time Nursery Assistant post has arisen to work predominantly within our Pelican room, but all applicants must be willing to work in all areas of the nursery. The successful candidate will assist with the care and development of children aged from 32 months to 44 months.

The successful candidate will be expected to work 8.30 – 5.45 on a Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday (with one hour’s unpaid lunch break per day), and 8.30 – 5.15 on Fridays, totaling 40.75 hours per week.

This post is to cover Maternity leave and may be available for up to one year.

Nursery Nurse – Part Time (Mornings)

Starting salary is £14,363 per annum (£21,283 FTE)

A part time Level 3 Nursery Nurse post has arisen within our nursery. The successful candidate will work predominantly within our Caterpillar room, which is for children aged approximately between 12/15 – 24 months of age, although all staff must be willing to work in all areas of the nursery.

The successful candidate must hold a Level 3 Early Years qualification and will be expected to work every morning, Monday – Friday from 8.30-2pm, totalling 27.5 hours per week.

We are interested in recruiting additional bank staff for both our Nursery and our Fun Pack Playscheme, which operates during each school holiday. The successful candidates would work with all age groups across nursery and/or at key times during the school holidays within our Playscheme.

A permanent full time Nursery Assistant post has arisen predominantly within our Caterpillar Room but all applicants must be willing to work in all areas of the nursery. The Nursery Assistant will assist with the care and development of children aged between 12/15 to 24 months of age and will ideally have experience of working with children in a childcare setting.
