Fenland and East Cambridgeshire are renowned for their beautiful landscapes. The surroundings offer many leisure activities including walking, hiking and cycling. There are many National Trust walking and cycling routes to choose from and you can even take guided walks of the Fenland towns. If you love to walk, there are many walking clubs you can join to socialise with others in the community who share your passion.

Whether you enjoy watching horse riding championships or like to take a few lessons yourself, Fenland and East Cambridgeshire provide many places to do this. These include the Fenland Equestrian Centre, Sovereign Quarter Horses and Partridge Farm Equestrian Centre.

If you prefer a slower pace after a week’s teaching, you can appreciate the natural wildlife with a spot of bird watching, fishing or fossil hunting. There are plenty of places to take part in these activities including the Nene Washes, Ouse Washes, Norwood Road Nature Reserve and Decoy Lakes. You can also take in nature from the water on the iconic narrow boats and fenland waterways, with the Wisbech Port and Yacht Harbour a popular mooring location.

Nearby cities, Peterborough and Cambridge, also offer a wide array of picturesque locations for a relaxing afternoon. Ferry Meadows in Peterborough is one of the largest country parks in the region and the ideal place for a family day out. While in Cambridge, you could spend some time punting along the river in the city centre or explore the nearby National Trust property, Wimpole Farm.
